30th AGM of Dhaka Regional Committee held on 24 April 2010

The 30th Annual General Meeting of Dhaka Regional Committee (DRC) of the ICAB was held in the evening of April 24, 2010 at Auditorium, CA Bhaban, Dhaka. Mr. Mostafa Kamal FCA and Mr. AKM Saif Ullah Kowchar FCA were elected Chairman & Secretary respectively of DRC for the year 2010. Speaking at the meeting Mr. Md. Abdus Salam FCA, Vice President, ICAB thanked the outgoing Chairman of DRC-ICAB and his Committee for their outstanding contribution during the year 2009. A CPD seminar titled “Entrepreneurship Development in Bangladesh” was held at the ICAB Auditorium of the city on April 8, 2010. Chaired by Mr. Matiul Islam FCA, a senior Chartered Accountant of the country and Chairman of Industrial & Infrastructure Development Finance Company Limited, the seminar was blessed as Chief Guest by Mr. Salman F Rahman, President of the Association of Publicly Listed Companies. A thematic presentation on the topic was made by Professor Abdul Mannan School of Business, University of Liberal Arts, Bangladesh in the seminar organized by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Bangladesh the regulatory body of the accountancy profession in the country. ICAB signs historic MoU with ICAEW

In a ground breaking move, The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Bangladesh (ICAB) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with The Institute of Chartered Accountants in England & Wales (ICAEW) to foster increased collaboration between the two professional bodies in the area of technical, professional and educational matters. The MOU was signed by Mr. Martin Hagen, President, ICAEW and Mr. Nasir Uddin Ahmed FCA, President, ICAB in the presence of Honourable Minister for Commerce, GOB, Mr. Muhammad Faruk Khan, MP at the Ballroom of Pan Pacific Sonargaon Hotel in Dhaka on 26 October 2009. The MoU will allow all the ICAB members to obtain ICAEW qualification after passing only 2 Technical Integration papers in the Advanced Stage and a Case Study. - View more

Prior to this election, Mr. Hafiz was the Vice President of SAFA for 2008. Mr. Hafiz is a Senior Partner of Rahman Rahman Huq (RRH), a leading firm of Chartered Accountants in Bangladesh. RRH is a Member Firm of KPMG International which is one of the "Big 4" Accounting Firms in the World. Mr. Hafiz is a senior member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Bangladesh(ICAB). Results of Professional Examination I, II & III held in November-December 2008 have been declared on 21 January 2009. Total 24 students qualified in the Professional Examination Level III. CA Professional Examinations which was started on 18 May 2008 ended on 27 May 2008. The Examinations were held in two centres in Dhaka and Chittagong. The total number of Examinees enrolled for PE-I, PE-II & PE-III were 1917, 761 and 156 respectively.
