ICAB New Curriculum

 
ICAB New Curriculum

The Council ICAB in its 10th meeting (for the year 2017) held on 19 June 2017 decided to introduce new curriculum with effect from November-December 2018 ICAB examinations in line with ICAEW syllabus with some modifications. All Chartered Accountancy Firms and the Principals are requested to notify the Articled Students about the salient points of the New Curriculum as under:

1.        Examination Structure
               The examinations of ICAB will be comprised of Three-Level examination system as follows:
                       1. Certificate Level (CL)
                       2. Professional Level (PL)
                       3. Advanced Level (AL)


A. Certificate Level shall consist of seven papers as per following details:

B. Professional Level shall consist of seven papers as per following details:

7. IT Application 100 IT Governance 100 3.0 hours
Total =  700 Total =               700

 

              Marks distribution in Tax planning & Compliance of professional Level will be as follows : 
                                      Direct Tax : 60% marks, and
                                      Indirect Tax : 40% marks. 

 

C. Advanced Level shall consist of three papers as per following details:

2.        Pattern of Examination:
               Pattern of examination for each paper will be as under:


                        a. Certificate Level (CL)

07 (seven) separate written exams, out of which 6 papers will be assessed using short-form (short questions and answers) written exam except for Principle of Taxation which will be in traditional written system.


                          b. Professional Level (CL)

07 (seven) separate written exams in traditional system.


                          c. Advanced Level (CL)

03 (three) papers written exams in traditional system.

 

3.        Recognition of Examination Results:

Students will get subject-wise exemption in new syllabus as stated in clause 9. No conversion will be offered as the earning outcome is almost the same in both existing and new syllabuses. Only the contents have been upgraded according to ICAEW's syllabus.

 

4.        Maximum Attempts for each paper:
               There will be no limit on the number of attempts as per existing policy.

 

5.        Step by Step Examination:
               Student would be given the option to sit for one or more or all the papers of each level at one sitting.

 

6.        Frequency of Examination:
               Examination will be held at least twice in a year.

 

7.        Commencement of Coaching Class on New Syllabus:
               The Coaching Class for students under new Syllabus will start from May-June 2018.

 

8.        Commencement of examination under New Curriculum:

The new syllabus will be effective from the ICAB Examinations to be held on November-December 2018 and no concurrent syllabus will be run.
