21st death anniversary of late Kazi Kamrul Hoda,FCA will be observed today (Tuesday), 29 January 2019. All his students, professional colleagues, friends, relatives and admirers are requested to attend a Milad Mahfil after Asar prayer at the premises of Hoda Vasi Chowdhury & Co, Kawran Bazar, Dhaka.
He was one of the legendary chartered accountants in Bangladesh and senior partner of Hoda Vasi Chowdhury & Co, a firm renamed succeeding the entire practice of A F Ferguson & Co, a Scottish firm that had been operating in the then East Pakistan.
He succeeded the practice of A F Ferguson & Co and restructured the firm in the new name of Hoda Vasi Chowdhury & Co (HVC). He breathed his last on 29 January 1998. “We remember him in every sphere of our daily life with due respect and love” says a Press Release from Hoda Vasi Chowdhury & Co.
Mr. Hoda his professional career in 1956 in Thornton & Thornton in Oxford, a firm of Chartered Accountants after completing his post graduation in Oxford University. After passing CA from the Institute of Chartered Accountants of England & Wales in 1960, he joined Price Waterhouse & Co, London in November 1960 and worked there till April 1962 and then joined Karachi office of A F Ferguson & Co. He became the partner of AF Ferguson & Co in 1971.
He was one of the founder council members of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Bangladesh and became the President of the Institute in 1983. He served in many public and private sectors and charitable organizations including National Pay Commission, Public Service Commission, Public Accounts Committee to the Parliament, Janata Bank, United Finance, United Insurance, SAARC Chamber, MCCI, Macalm Bangladesh Trust and many others.
He is still known and remembered at home and abroad for his high ethical standard, intellectual knowledge and capability, uncompromising and upright standing on quality and professional issues, modest lifestyle, strong personality apart from strict sense of proportion and humour.
