CA Connect Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how CA Connect handles information when you use the CA Connect mobile application and related services made available for members and users of The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Bangladesh (ICAB).
1. Who We Are
CA Connect is a mobile application used to access member services, profile details, messaging, notifications, events, help desk support, and dues-related payment features. The app connects to ICAB-operated systems and selected third-party service providers that support app functionality.
2. Information We May Collect
Account and login data
Username, password, one-time password (OTP), authentication token, and user type needed to sign in and keep your session active.
Member profile information
Information made available through ICAB systems, such as your name, membership ID, organization, professional details, status, email address, phone number, address, and profile image.
Messages and support content
Direct message content, sender/recipient identifiers, timestamps, notification metadata, help desk ticket details, comments, and any files you choose to upload with a support request.
Payments and dues data
Dues selection, payable amount, transaction ID, and customer contact details required to initiate a payment through SSLCommerz or related payment services.
Device and app identifiers
Device-generated identifiers, Firebase Cloud Messaging token, platform details, app version, build number, and device model used for notifications, security, diagnostics, and service reliability.
Usage, diagnostics, and crash data
Error reports, crash information, screen context, endpoint metadata, and analytics/diagnostic signals provided through app services such as Firebase Analytics and Firebase Crashlytics.
3. Permissions and Device Access
- Internet and network access: Used to connect with ICAB services, real-time messaging, notifications, and related app features.
- Notifications: Used to deliver push notifications and message alerts.
- File selection: Used only when you choose a document to upload for help desk or related support functions.
- Camera: The Android package includes optional camera access through an integrated payment SDK. On supported devices, this may be used for card-scanning related payment flows. Core CA Connect features do not require camera access.
As of this policy date, CA Connect does not request precise location, microphone, or contacts access for its core features.
4. How We Use Information
- To authenticate users and maintain secure account sessions.
- To display member profile, directory, dues, event, and service information.
- To send push notifications, in-app alerts, and communication updates.
- To support messaging, help desk requests, and user support workflows.
- To initiate and reconcile dues-related payments.
- To monitor app performance, diagnose issues, and improve reliability and security.
- To comply with operational, accounting, audit, and legal obligations.
5. How Information May Be Shared
We may share relevant information with the following categories of recipients:
- ICAB systems and authorized personnel to provide membership, communication, support, and payment-related services.
- Google / Firebase service providers for push notifications, diagnostics, analytics, and crash reporting.
- Payment service providers such as SSLCommerz to process dues-related payment transactions and associated payment workflow data.
- Service providers and infrastructure partners that help us operate, secure, maintain, or support the app.
- Authorities or other parties when required by law or when reasonably necessary to protect rights, safety, security, or service integrity.
Third-party services operate under their own terms and privacy practices. We recommend reviewing the privacy notices of the services you interact with through the app.
6. Local Storage on Your Device
CA Connect may store limited information locally on your device to support sign-in, caching, messaging, and notification reliability. This may include authentication token data, member profile cache, device ID, notification token registration details, and draft or preference data. Local app data may remain on your device until you log out, clear app data, or uninstall the app.
7. Data Retention and Deletion
We retain information for as long as reasonably necessary to provide the app, manage member services, support payments, maintain security, resolve disputes, and comply with legal, accounting, audit, or regulatory obligations.
- On-device data: You can remove locally stored data by logging out, clearing app storage, or uninstalling the app.
- Server-side data: Support tickets, messages, notifications, payment records, and related service data may be retained according to ICAB operational and compliance requirements.
8. Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures designed to protect information handled through CA Connect. However, no method of transmission over the internet or method of electronic storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
9. Your Choices
- You may choose whether to enable app notifications on your device.
- You may choose whether to upload files when submitting a help desk request.
- You may stop using the app at any time and remove locally stored data from your device.
- For requests or questions about your data, you may contact ICAB using the methods listed below.
10. Children's Privacy
CA Connect is intended for members, professionals, and adult users of ICAB services and is not directed to children under 13.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the effective date at the top of this page. Your continued use of CA Connect after an update becomes effective means you acknowledge the updated policy.
